The Eagles Junior Basketball Club had its foundations as the Edgewater Eagles Junior Basketball Club incorporated on 10 October 1987.
At that time Edgewater was a growing new suburb of young families and their children. In 1987 Edgewater was the furthest northerly suburb of Perth’s urban sprawl (other than Wanneroo). Joondalup was bush except for a few structures dotted here and there. The Wanneroo Wolves stadium was the closest indoor sporting facility that ran a competitive sport at that time other than having to travel to Warwick either down Wanneroo Road or Marmion Ave.
The founders of the Edgewater Eagles Junior Basketball Club realised that this is a perfect opportunity to use the Wanneroo Wolves Stadium to supply an indoor sporting competition for the youth of Heathridge, Craigie and Edgewater, all new areas.
Over the years Joondalup developed and grew and other new families were moving in these newer districts, all facing the same problem as faced in 1987. This prompted a name change to the Eagles Junior Basketball Club in 1995 to show that the club has no boundaries.
The Eagles Junior Basketball Club is proud of the fact that at registration days we do not turn players away if there is no position for them no matter what suburb they live in. If we cannot place players in an existing team we form a new team or find other clubs close to them. Our registered players span from Ridgewood to Duncraig the predominant suburbs covered are; Ocean Reef, Woodvale, Ridgewood, Kingsley, Wanneroo.
